Out of the 1.4 million tourists who have visited the Maldives so far this year, 73.5 percent—exceeding 1.06 million visitors—opted to stay in resorts. While tourists from the United Kingdom and Russia represented the largest share of resort guests, China, Russia, and the UK remain the overall top source markets for the Maldives. Following resorts, guesthouses were the second most preferred accommodation choice. Currently, there are 1,266 operational tourist establishments across the country, offering a total capacity of over 67,000 beds.
