Public Urged to Refrain from Using Unverified Products for Weight Loss

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has issued a public advisory cautioning against the promotion and sale of food products marketed with misleading information regarding weight loss and various medical treatments. The Authority emphasized that disseminating such claims without scientific evidence is not only a violation of food advertisement regulations but also poses significant health risks.

Furthermore, the MFDA highlighted that these products could be particularly hazardous for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals undergoing treatment for chronic illnesses. Consequently, the Authority has called for an immediate halt to the fraudulent advertising of products claiming to cause physical transformations. For maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the MFDA advises the public to prioritize a balanced diet and regular physical exercise.
