Queues for the ongoing elections are scheduled to close today at 4:00 PM.

While voting commenced at 8:00 AM, the Elections Commission (EC) has decided not to extend the polling duration for any station, despite minor delays reported at some locations during the opening.

According to data released by the Elections Commission as of 2:00 PM today, a total of 131,947 individuals have cast their ballots. This includes 63,175 women and 68,772 men.

With a total of 284,876 eligible voters in this election, approximately 152,929 people are yet to exercise their right to vote. Consequently, the Elections Commission urges all eligible citizens to join the queues and cast their votes before the deadline.

No further individuals will be permitted to join the queues after 4:00 PM. Polling stations will officially close once everyone remaining in the queue at that time has finished voting.

The counting of ballots is scheduled to begin 30 minutes after the respective polling stations have closed.

A total of 588 ballot boxes have been stationed across the Maldives for this election. Each polling center is equipped with three separate ballot boxes to accommodate the different categories of the election: the Local Council Election, the Women’s Development Committee Election, and the National Referendum.
