Attorney General Ahmed Usham has stated that holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously will not infringe upon any constitutional rights of the citizens. He emphasized that this reform would not alter the fundamental process of electing members to the Parliament, but rather only adjust the electoral timeline.
Furthermore, the Attorney General noted that holding concurrent elections is not an exclusive feature of parliamentary systems, as many large nations with presidential systems follow the same practice. He assured that this change would not affect the constitutional principle of separation of powers, and the fundamental voting rights of the citizens would remain fully protected. A public referendum to decide on this constitutional amendment is scheduled to be held next month.
