In his message on the occasion of the New Islamic Year, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized that the most crucial priority is to set aside political and social differences and prioritize the national interest. Highlighting that the Hijra (migration) of the Prophet (PBUH) teaches us patience and steadfastness, the President called upon the Maldivian community to revive the spirit of friendship and compassion that existed between the Ansar and Muhajirun of Madinah.
The President further stated that the government’s objective is to nurture a generation loyal to the faith and the nation, built upon Islamic aqidah (creed) and Maldivian values. He urged the people to work towards economic revitalization and the strengthening of social bonds. Additionally, he reminded the public to pray for Muslims facing oppression worldwide, particularly those in Palestine. Noting that the upcoming year marks the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam, the President and the First Lady extended their sincere well wishes for a blessed year to all Maldivian citizens.
