Statistics from the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) reveal that MVR 50.7 million has been collected as Zakat al-Mal so far this year, marking an 8.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The highest amount of Zakat was received during the month of February.
The Maldives Zakat House has currently set the Nisab (the minimum threshold of wealth) for Zakat al-Mal at MVR 21,836.50. This threshold is subject to change based on fluctuations in the global prices of gold and silver. As the payment of Zakat al-Mal is a fundamental religious obligation, MIRA has established a convenient online payment system through its official website to facilitate the process for the public.
