Member of Parliament for the Hulhumalé North constituency, Hussain Shareef, has been unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Housing Committee by the consensus of 10 committee members. This position became vacant following the appointment of Husnee Mubarik to the committee, replacing the former Chairperson, Ibrahim Falah.
The newly appointed Chair of the 11-member committee stated that his priorities would include overseeing the implementation of the government’s housing policies and expediting the legislative work on the Housing Bill currently before Parliament. The primary mandate of this committee is to monitor housing projects and provide recommendations to the government to resolve the housing challenges faced by the public.
