The Maldives is set to host the 30th Session of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) from the 4th to the 15th of this month. Scheduled to take place at Barceló Nasandhura, the meeting will bring together over 200 international delegates and subject matter experts from across the globe. This marks the first time an IOTC Commission session is being held in the Maldives, representing a significant milestone in the government’s strategic efforts to advance the nation’s fisheries industry.
The session will encompass comprehensive discussions on compliance, administrative, and financial matters, in addition to various technical committee meetings. As the IOTC is the primary body responsible for the sustainable management of tuna resources in the Indian Ocean, hosting this prestigious event will further solidify the Maldives’ role and influence in shaping international fisheries policies.
