The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Maldives will strongly advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people during the upcoming session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, scheduled from June 15 to July 7.
The Maldivian delegation, led by Dr. Salma Rasheed, will participate in these meetings to deliver statements regarding the inhumane acts committed by Israel in Palestine and the immense suffering endured by the people of Gaza.
Furthermore, as a member of the Core Group dedicated to the independence of judges and lawyers, the Maldives will submit a resolution concerning the independence of legal professionals during this session. The primary objective of these efforts is to demonstrate the Maldives’ commitment to protecting global human rights and to raise its voice in the international arena against any violations of these fundamental rights.
