The final rites for the late Sergeant First Class Mohamed Mahudhee, an MNDF diver who tragically passed away from decompression sickness during a high-risk rescue operation to locate missing tourists, were conducted today with full state honors.

The funeral prayer and burial, held at the Islamic Centre, were attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, senior government officials, and hundreds of members of the public who gathered to pay their final respects.

In a solemn tribute to his service and sacrifice, a seven-gun salute was performed, after which President Dr. Muizzu presented the national flag that had draped the casket to the bereaved family. Sergeant Mahudhee lost his life during a perilous search and rescue mission for missing Italian tourists in Vaavu Atoll.
