
In response to the severe fire that broke out late last night at “Noofaru” in K. Huraa, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has facilitated emergency shelter and meals for 15 residents affected by the incident. The residence and personal property sustained extensive damage, rendering the building uninhabitable. Consequently, the displaced individuals have been temporarily relocated to two guesthouses on the island.
Regarding casualties, one individual received medical attention for burn injuries sustained to the arm, while a woman experiencing psychological distress is currently undergoing treatment in Male’. While preliminary assessments suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit or an overheated mobile phone, the police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause.
