President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that individuals who were previously allocated land plots in the Male’ region under the ‘Binveriya’ and other housing schemes will be given the option to relinquish their land in exchange for flats in the government’s new housing projects. This decision was made in response to requests from families who have received land but lack the financial capacity to undertake the construction of a home.
The President further clarified that joint land owners can also avail of this opportunity, provided all co-owners reach a mutual agreement to surrender the land in favor of applying for a flat. The administrative procedures for this transition are currently being finalized, and the application process is expected to open through the official portal within the next two to three weeks.
