President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that efforts are underway to establish a formal mechanism through which stakeholders from various industries can directly submit their insights and recommendations to the President.
Speaking at a meeting held to address public concerns, the President highlighted the administration’s strategic focus on diversifying the tourism sector by promoting niches such as cultural tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. Furthermore, he emphasized the government’s commitment to facilitating the completion of stalled resort projects and ensuring that constructive professional input from the industry is effectively shared with relevant government authorities.
The administration’s broader objectives include expanding the tourism industry into underserved regions, extending the average duration of stay for visitors, and increasing overall tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
