President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that initiatives are being taken to establish Bank of Maldives (BML) services in Sri Lanka. Following the signing of seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two nations, discussions were held to bolster bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, healthcare, education, and fisheries.
Furthermore, both countries have reached an agreement to introduce premium Maldivian fisheries products to the Sri Lankan market and to create favorable opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. These developments are expected to bring significant benefits to the more than 2,000 Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka and contribute substantially to the economic advancement of both nations.
