
In the inaugural Maldives Engineers Awards ceremony, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented the prestigious “Engineer of the Year” award to Dr. Furugan Ibrahim, General Manager at MWSC, who holds a PhD in the field of energy. During the ceremony, Lifetime Achievement Awards were posthumously awarded to the late Ahmed Mahreen and the late Mohamed Rasheed, as well as to Abdulla Shakoor Salih, in recognition of their extensive service to the engineering profession. Additionally, awards were presented to several notable engineers and projects across various specializations.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib highlighted that engineers are fundamental pillars of nation-building. He further emphasized the importance of sharing technical knowledge and practical experience from development projects with students. The awards, which received over 70 submissions, were presented across a total of eight distinct categories.
