
Minister Heena Waleed has announced the successful completion of a comprehensive project to research and document over 400 heritage sites across 18 atolls in the Maldives. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Kyoto University of Japan, is currently ongoing in Alif Alif and Alif Dhaal Atoll. Upon completion of the project, all gathered information will be accessible to the public through an online database.
Furthermore, the Minister noted that the restoration of “Lily House” in Ha. Kelaa is scheduled to be finished within this year. She also highlighted that a UNESCO technical team is slated to visit the Maldives this September to evaluate the proposal for inscribing the country’s coral stone mosques onto the UNESCO World Heritage List.
