According to statistics released by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), diving schools have emerged as the fastest-growing segment within the tourism industry. In the first quarter of this year, diving schools experienced a significant 47.7% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, other sectors including water sports centers, homestay guesthouses, and resorts also recorded substantial growth in their earnings. Overall, the tourism industry’s output tax rose by 20.5%, a development primarily driven by the increasing number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
