In accordance with the President’s policy to establish at least one nature park in every atoll across the Maldives, the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has initiated the development of nature parks in 10 selected islands. The process of signing grant agreements is currently underway with the local councils of the islands chosen for this project, which include HA. Molhadhoo, HDh. Kumundhoo, N. Landhoo, K. Huraa, ADh. Omadhoo, M. Kolhufushi, Th. Kinbidhoo, L. Gan, GA. Kondey, and GDh. Fiyoaree. Beyond environmental conservation, these parks are expected to bolster local tourism and provide significant economic benefits to the respective communities.
