The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that it will relocate its headquarters to the 15-storey “Darul Noor” Waqf building once construction is complete. This project, situated on the site formerly known as Coral Boulevard, is being developed to generate financial resources for the promotion and dissemination of Quranic knowledge. Detailed architectural designs for the building are expected to be finalized next month, with physical construction slated to begin by the end of this year or early next year.

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, stated that moving the Ministry’s administrative operations to the new facility will allow the Islamic Centre to be restored to its original purpose. It is envisioned to function as a dedicated hub for religious information, featuring a modern library and educational resources. Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that the revenue generated from such Waqf projects is expected to strengthen the Waqf Fund significantly. The goal is to reach a level of financial sustainability within the next three years that would reduce the reliance on the state budget for conducting religious activities and programs.
