The President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has officially inaugurated the Auditor General’s Office Strategic Plan for 2026-2029. The primary objective of this roadmap is to leverage advanced technology to enhance the quality of audits and bolster the accountability of state institutions.
Key priorities of the plan include establishing a transparent governance framework through high-quality audits and strengthening the operational resilience of the Audit Office by integrating digital technologies. Furthermore, the plan focuses on expanding environmental audits, promoting fiscal responsibility within local councils under the decentralization framework, and accelerating the audit of financial transactions to monitor unbudgeted expenditures. The Auditor General highlighted that this strategic initiative will reinforce debt management oversight and advance specialized fields such as forensic auditing.
