Fathimath Zahiyya, the Councilor for the Hulhumalé North Constituency, has publicly criticized the government on social media, alleging that the Malé City Council is unable to process the registration of flats developed by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) due to a lack of cooperation. Zahiyya claimed that the registration process is being stalled because FDC has failed to provide the necessary information and has not responded to formal inquiries sent by the Council.
In a firm rebuttal to these accusations, the Managing Director of FDC, Hamdan Shakeel, clarified that the corporation has already issued the necessary “No Objection” documents required for tenants to complete their residential registration. Furthermore, Hamdan noted that a verification system via QR codes has been established to ensure the authenticity of these documents, and a dedicated focal point has been assigned to facilitate the process. He criticized the Council’s stance, suggesting that withholding services despite having all the required resources and information is an attempt to mislead the public.
