China, the Maldives’ primary source market, has recorded a significant 26% growth in tourist arrivals this year compared to the previous year. To date, 136,459 visitors from China have reached the Maldives, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom as the next top-contributing markets. Despite this growth, total tourist arrivals have seen a 5.2% decline compared to last year, primarily due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. While the majority of travelers enter the country through Velana International Airport, a large percentage opt for resort stays. Currently, there are 1,284 operational tourist establishments in the Maldives, encompassing resorts, guesthouses, and hotels.
