Bank of Maldives (BML) has officially confirmed that it does not share customers’ personal information or card details with Maldives Immigration. This clarification follows recent procedural changes implemented in collaboration with Immigration to address the issue of cards being utilized abroad while the cardholder remains within the Maldives.

BML stated that the integration between the bank’s card system and Immigration’s border control system is designed solely to verify the cardholder’s presence outside the country during international transactions. This mechanism ensures that neither institution gains access to the private or sensitive data maintained by the other.

Furthermore, the bank noted that students studying abroad who are currently using cards registered to their parents in the Maldives have been granted a three-month grace period. Within this duration, these students are expected to transition to dedicated student cards to ensure uninterrupted service.
