Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the plan to expel the people of Palestine from any part of their country will fail. In a post on “X”, he said that the plan to expel the people of Palestine from any part of their country will fail, and that Israel must end the genocide it is carrying out in Palestine and choose the path of peace. Nasheed also stated that achieving an equitable and sustainable solution is what everyone desires for dignity, rights, and peace.
While the genocide that began on October 7, 2023, is still ongoing, Israel continues to launch daily attacks on various areas of Gaza, martyring many people. This includes innocent infants and women. Reports also state that since the start of this war, over 4,000 people have been arrested from the West Bank alone. While many have been arrested in these Israeli attacks, reports also indicate that the number of people martyred is approaching 60,000.
Citing a joint statement issued by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) and the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, media reports said that currently, 10,800 Palestinians are being held or detained in Israeli prisons. Reports state that this includes over 450 children, 50 women, and 3,629 individuals held without specific charges. The report adds that this is the highest number of Palestinians arrested by Israel since the year 2000.
