Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has stated that the goal is to transform Island Aviation into a profitable company within the next 1 to 2 years. The Minister made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of Maldivian’s new Engineering Service Building. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, said that this was a very historic day in Maldivian’s life. The Minister described the opening of such a maintenance facility as something that will bring relief to Maldivian’s maintenance and ongoing expenses. He also said that Maldivian’s new Engineering Service Building will enhance safety and security.

The Minister noted that while Maldivian provides maintenance services for many airlines coming to the Maldives, this service facility will also bring ease to this aspect. Highlighting that it took about 10 years to prepare this building and facility, the Minister said that it was opened today due to the special importance the President gives to these matters. “The hope is that within the next 1 or 2 years, Island Aviation will become a company that can move forward very quickly with its own capacity. When it changes in this way, it will be better for the staff as well,” the Minister said.

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, stated that the current government is working on bringing the airline to the position of a national airline, given that Maldivian is the national airline.”
