In commemoration of the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam, the nation’s youth stand fully prepared to safeguard its Islamic identity and historical legacy. The increasing presence of young Khateebs and Imams in mosques today serves as a testament to the profound importance the youth accord to their faith. Furthermore, they recognize it as their noble responsibility to utilize modern technology and media platforms to disseminate Islamic creed and historical knowledge to future generations.
Since King Dhivehi Siri Thiribuvana-aadheetiya Mahaa Radhun embraced Islam in 1153 CE following the dawah of Abul Barakat Yusuf al-Barbari, the struggles endured by our ancestors and national heroes to defend the nation from Portuguese and Malabari threats represent a supreme sacrifice made to protect this faith. Consequently, acknowledging that Maldivian independence and Islam are two inseparable pillars, the youth have resolved to remain steadfast in exemplary Islamic character and knowledge, committed to passing this sacred trust down to the generations to follow.
