Refuting rumors of a chicken egg shortage in the Maldives, the State Trading Organization (STO) has confirmed that eggs are being sold without any restrictions. STO further assured that with additional shipments currently in transit, a steady supply will be maintained. The Ministry of Economic Development, in collaboration with STO, continues to monitor the market to ensure that essential commodities remain available at affordable prices. Following the government’s decision last year to expand the essential goods list to include 23 items—including eggs, fruits, and vegetables—these products have been consistently integrated into the local market.
