The Government is currently in the process of drafting a comprehensive “Anti-Bullying Act,” incorporating international best practices and expert consultations. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the primary objectives of this legislation are to implement robust measures against bullying and to establish a formal mechanism for reporting such incidents. Furthermore, the administration is working to enhance mental health support by expanding helpline services, increasing the scope of treatments covered under the Aasandha insurance scheme, and developing a new dedicated mental health facility. Once enacted, this law will facilitate greater awareness regarding bullying through the national school curriculum and strengthen the support systems designed to provide essential psychological assistance to victims of bullying.
