Minister Mohamed Ameen has stated that a primary objective of the government is to elevate the standards of the national airline, Maldivian, and to establish direct flight connections between the Maldives and major global cities. As part of these efforts, initiatives are currently underway to expand Maldivian’s fleet with new Airbus aircraft and to improve the quality of domestic flight services. Although there are challenges in acquiring new aircraft, it is anticipated that additional planes will be secured by early next year. Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that infrastructure development projects at Maafaru Airport and Dharavandhoo Airport are progressing rapidly.
