Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has announced that an agreement will be signed in August with a designated party to introduce helicopter services in the Maldives. This initiative is designed to provide 24/7 operations under all weather conditions, focusing on tourist transfers, emergency medical evacuations, and search and rescue missions.
Following the completion of the proposal evaluation process, the government has stipulated that the selected operator must provide 50 hours of free medical evacuation services per month for the first three years of the contract. The administration aims to officially commence these operations by November 2027.
