
In May, the Zakat Fund received a total of MVR 7.59 million, marking a significant 75.3% increase compared to the same period last year. From the MVR 2.7 million distributed during this month, the largest portion was dedicated to medical aid, totaling MVR 1.45 million.
Furthermore, over MVR 1 million was utilized for educational and religious initiatives under ‘Fisabilillah’ projects. These expenditures include funding for Quranic education, the translation of religious texts, and financial support for higher education. According to the Maldives Zakat House, the rise in Zakat contributions reflects a growing level of public awareness and commitment to religious obligations.
