In a significant move to modernize and enhance the efficiency of the Maldives Police Service, the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has announced the official launch of the “Drone as a First Responder” (DFR) initiative, scheduled for next year. This program is designed to utilize drone technology to provide immediate aerial intelligence and real-time situational awareness during maritime and land-based incidents, enabling the police to deliver a swifter and more effective response.
Furthermore, the government is actively working to upgrade the infrastructure of the 911 Emergency Response Center. These advancements include the implementation of a sophisticated system capable of pinpointing a caller’s precise location instantly, alongside the establishment of a state-of-the-art data center to support police operations.
