Under the government’s “Housing for All” initiative, it has been decided to add an additional 710 units to the Affordable Housing Project facilitated through BML. Final preparations are currently underway to award the contracts for this expansion. This addition brings the total number of housing units under the project to 3,970.
Development activities for several components of this project have already commenced in Hulhumale’ and Villimale’. These units are offered under a rent-to-own scheme, ensuring that ownership is transferred to the tenants upon completion of payment. The government aims to complete all units under this project by mid-2028.
