These initiatives are primarily categorized into two main components: the development of affordable housing units and the introduction of loan schemes through financial institutions to facilitate home construction on privately owned land.
The fundamental objective of this effort is to empower residents to remain in their home islands by providing viable housing solutions, thereby reducing the current over-reliance on the capital, Male’, for accommodation. Furthermore, the government has placed a high priority on creating opportunities for resort employees to live closer to their families. Additionally, strategic focus is being given to the resumption and completion of previously stalled housing projects across the islands.
