Following the introduction of PayPal services to the Maldives by Ooredoo Maldives, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed highlighted that this development marks the removal of a significant barrier to Maldivian participation in the global digital economy. The Minister emphasized that this achievement is a direct result of the strong leadership and vision of President Dr. Muizzu, proving that the Maldives can excel on an international stage despite its small market size.
Minister Saeed further noted that this service will provide financial independence, particularly for youth and women, while opening new doors for Maldivian products in the global marketplace. He explained that the legal and systemic challenges previously hindering PayPal’s entry were resolved through strategic reforms. Additionally, the Minister highlighted that PayPal chose Ooredoo as its partner to facilitate the integration of this system for the Maldivian people.
