Minister Rafiu, the campaign manager for the People’s National Congress (PNC), has stated that securing the majority of votes from the ballot boxes located in Hithadhoo during the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election is a major success for the party. He noted that the overall election defeat for the PNC was due to a significant margin of votes favoring the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) from the ballot box stationed in Malé. According to the provisional results, MDP candidate Sobe won the election by a narrow margin of 62 votes. However, the PNC candidate led by 34 votes in the ballot boxes placed within Hithadhoo. Rafiu further emphasized that this result marks a new beginning for expanding the PNC’s presence in Addu City, and assured that the government remains committed to the developmental progress of the constituency in the future.
