In a message delivered on the occasion of World Environment Day, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision to allocate seven million Rufiyaa annually from the Green Fund specifically for environmental protection efforts. The President emphasized that this allocation is in addition to the regular state budget designated for the environmental sector. These funds will be utilized for the management and maintenance of protected areas and biodiversity, the conduct of environmental research, and the support of initiatives carried out in collaboration with non-governmental organizations and school environment clubs. Highlighting the critical importance of mitigating the impacts of climate change and striving for sustainable development, the President expressed confidence that this initiative will further strengthen environmental preservation efforts, ensuring a lasting benefit for future generations.
