Despite the Maldives’ defeat against Afghanistan in the opening match of the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament, national coach István Urbányi has expressed satisfaction with the players’ competitive spirit and determination. The coach highlighted that the team’s objective remains reaching the final, and instead of being disheartened by the loss, the players are focused on improving their performance. Acknowledging the high caliber of the other competing teams, the coach assured that training sessions would be intensified to rectify mistakes in preparation for the upcoming matches. The Maldives will face Pakistan in their next fixture on the 4th of this month.
