The Maldives, alongside nine other nations, has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s inhumane actions in obstructing the “Sumood Flotilla” and the subsequent detention of its participants. The flotilla was on a humanitarian mission to deliver much-needed aid to the people of Gaza.
In a joint statement, the Foreign Ministers of the Maldives, Brazil, Jordan, Pakistan, Spain, Bangladesh, Colombia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Libya emphasized that this mission was an entirely peaceful humanitarian effort. The statement asserted that intercepting vessels within international waters constitutes a flagrant violation of international law.
Furthermore, the joint statement called for the immediate and unconditional release of the detained activists. It also urged the international community to take decisive action to hold Israel accountable for these violations and ensure justice is upheld.
