Speaking at the Maldives-Sri Lanka Business Forum, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, stated that the government’s key objective is to establish the Maldives as a prominent economic hub in the Indian Ocean, extending beyond its reputation as a premier tourism destination. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to transform the nation into a center for trade, investment, and innovation.
Noting the significant presence of Sri Lankan companies across various sectors in the Maldives, the Minister emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to overcome the economic challenges faced by both nations. Furthermore, he remarked that this forum would pave the way for strengthening bilateral trade relations and expanding investment opportunities between the two countries.
