According to the latest tourism statistics as of April 22, 2024, the Maldives has experienced a remarkable 178% increase in tourists arriving via cruise liners compared to the same period last year. Out of the total 758,753 tourists who visited the country during this timeframe, 10,351 arrived by sea. The leading source markets for these arrivals include China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany. Despite fluctuations in air travel arrivals attributed to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the Maldives continues to strengthen its position as a premier destination for the international cruise industry.
