The national carrier, Maldivian, has entered into a strategic interline agreement with SriLankan Airlines. This partnership aims to strengthen the connectivity between the Maldives and the rest of the world, while offering enhanced convenience for passengers traveling across the networks of both airlines.

Under this agreement, passengers traveling through SriLankan Airlines’ extensive international network will gain seamless access to 17 domestic destinations within the Maldives, operated by Maldivian, beyond the capital, Malé. This arrangement is expected to significantly ease travel for tourists from key global markets, allowing them to reach various parts of the Maldives via Colombo with greater efficiency and convenience.

Furthermore, Maldivian has highlighted that this partnership will provide its passengers traveling abroad with more options and greater flexibility when connecting to international destinations via Colombo.

Ibrahim Iyas, the Managing Director of Maldivian, stated that this collaboration marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand travel opportunities to the Maldives and strengthen connectivity to the atolls beyond the central hub.

Maldivian further noted that this initiative will contribute to the growth of the Maldivian tourism industry and provide substantial travel benefits for Maldivians traveling internationally.
