State Revenue from Tourism Land Rent Surpasses MVR 500 Million

During the first quarter of this year, the state collected MVR 549 million in tourism land rent, marking a 12.5% increase compared to the same period last year. According to statistics from the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), the majority of this revenue was generated from resort land rents, which accounted for USD 35 million. Currently, there are 1,303 operational tourist facilities in the Maldives. To date, the country has welcomed over 700,000 tourists this year, with the Chinese market maintaining its position as the top source of arrivals.
