
In a significant restructuring aimed at enhancing governmental efficiency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reduced the number of Cabinet members to 15. Following this administrative overhaul, 12 newly appointed ministers were officially sworn into office today to lead the restructured ministries.
The newly appointed ministers are: Moosa Zameer as Minister of Finance, Ali Ihusaan as Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Iruthisham Adam as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu as Minister of Education, Qeela Ali as Minister of Health, Mohamed Saeed as Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed as Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mohamed Ameen as Minister of Tourism, Abdulla Rafiu as Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Heena Waleed as Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Abdulla Muththalib as Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, and Ali Shareef as Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy.
These changes follow the resignation of 10 former cabinet ministers. According to the President’s Office, this decision was taken by the President to expedite the fulfillment of government pledges to the citizens and to further streamline administrative operations. Moving forward, the Cabinet will consist of a total of 15 members, including the Attorney General.
