The practical implementation of the project to develop an isolation facility at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has officially commenced. A special ceremony was held in Kulhudhuffushi to mark the occasion, where the project was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Honorable Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the First Lady, Her Excellency Sajidha Mohamed. Senior officials from the Ministry of Health, the management of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, and Members of Parliament representing the region also attended the event.

As part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and expanding healthcare services, an agreement was signed with Altec Maldives on February 14 to establish private rooms and an isolation facility at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. This project is being carried out by the Ministry of Health under the “Maldives COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project,” funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The facility will feature private rooms and a convertible quarantine facility, which includes an auditorium with a seating capacity for 800 people.
