Ibrahim Shujau, the Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, has stated that the Maldivian people have no desire to return to the MDP’s vision of “Aneh Dhivehiraajje” (The Other Maldives), noting that former President Yameen himself was once the most vocal opponent of that slogan. Shujau made these remarks in response to President Yameen’s recent comments suggesting that, given the country’s current situation, there is a need to seek “Aneh Dhivehiraajje.”
Shujau characterized the “Aneh Dhivehiraajje” era as a period marked by detrimental actions, such as the abduction of judges and the selling of state assets. He further emphasized that the nation’s focus should remain on the current administration’s vision of “Dhiveheen-ge Raajje” (The Nation of the Maldivians), which he described as a governance model that ensures social security and national sovereignty.
