
In his message on the occasion of World Water Day, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized that providing safe and affordable drinking water to every island in the Maldives is a key objective of the government. Highlighting that access to clean water is intrinsically linked to gender equality and the dignity of women, the President noted the significant burden women bear during water shortages caused by climate change. Furthermore, he underscored the necessity of strengthening water systems, enhancing rainwater harvesting, and building technical capacity. The President concluded by calling upon all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring nationwide access to safe drinking water and professional sanitation systems.
