Ibrahim Aboobakuru, who initially contested as an independent candidate for the Maafannu West constituency, has decided to withdraw from the race and endorse the PNC candidate and current Deputy Mayor, Mohamed Areesh. Ibrahim Aboobakuru clarified that his decision to run as an independent was due to an administrative issue encountered during the submission of his candidacy form. He further emphasized that his current decision aims to ensure the party’s seat remains secure and is not lost to opposing contenders.

More than 200,000 citizens are eligible to vote in the upcoming election scheduled for the 4th of next month, where the PNC and MDP have fielded the highest number of candidates. Additionally, a public referendum will be held on the same day to determine the citizens’ view on synchronizing all national elections to be held on a single day.
