The Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim, has asserted that holding presidential and parliamentary elections on the same day is an absolute necessity. Qasim noted that under the current framework, the initial months following the formation of a new administration are often dominated by intense efforts to secure a parliamentary majority. This process, he argued, creates political instability and significantly obstructs the government’s ability to function effectively.
He further highlighted that synchronizing the two elections would save the state budget more than 120 million Rufiyaa, while also helping to reduce corruption and political tension. Consequently, Qasim urged the public to support this systemic change by voting in favor during the national referendum scheduled for this coming April.
