China has condemned the U.S. military incursion into Venezuela and the subsequent arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, asserting that every nation is entitled to the protection of international law to safeguard its independence and sovereignty.

In the early hours of December 2nd, U.S. forces entered Venezuela and conducted a series of intense strikes before taking Maduro and his wife into custody. They have since been transported to a detention facility in New York, USA.

The United States is preparing to bring multiple charges against Maduro, including drug trafficking and plotting terrorist activities. It is anticipated that he will be produced before a federal court in Manhattan later today.

China has consistently advocated against any nation conducting military operations within another country’s borders without the explicit authorization of the UN Security Council.

During a meeting with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the events in Venezuela, stating that China does not accept any nation unilaterally assuming the role of a “global judge.”

In this regard, he emphasized that all nations must be afforded the protection of international law to maintain their independence and sovereignty.

Previously, Chinese President Xi Jinping also called upon all nations to adhere to international laws, stressing that large and powerful nations must lead by example in this matter.

Regarding the situation in Venezuela, Colombia has taken the lead in submitting a formal complaint to the UN Security Council, with the support of both China and Russia.
